Digital Design Engineer
We are looking for highly motivated, curious individuals to help continue with our growth and continued success, could you be the newest member of our team?
Digital Design Engineer
Agile Analog is revolutionising the way Analog circuits are designed. We are developing a process agnostic design methodology that uses automation to accelerate the generation of circuits and IP for our customers. Using our innovative technology, we have the capability to design circuits faster, to a higher quality and on any silicon process
Based in Cambridge with a fantastic new managed office, we are also one of the few companies continuing to embrace the flexibility of hybrid and remote working. Should you not be local to Cambridge, or remote working appeals, feel free to apply. (Please note we are only currently accepting applications from those who already have the right to work in the UK)
We are disrupting methodologies that have been unchanged for generations, So if you think a little differently, want to work in an environment where you can work on multiple projects and use your knowledge to push ideas forward then we would love to hear from you.
What you will be doing:
As a key member of our multidisciplinary design team you will contribute across the full IP development lifecycle—from system-level modeling to customer delivery. Involved in the design and development of a wide range of digital circuits, including high-performance data converters and innovative IP for sensing and hardware security applications. Design for reuse is a core principle, with a strong focus on creating modular, scalable, and maintainable IP suitable for integration across diverse projects and platforms. This role offers the opportunity to work across all phases of digital design, verification, and synthesis, while targeting advanced semiconductor technologies down to 2nm process nodes.
What we need from you:
Design & Modelling
- Proficient in modeling digital systems using VHDL, Verilog, and SystemVerilog
- Strong foundation in combinational and sequential logic, including FSMs, pipelines, and datapaths
- Skilled in Register-Transfer Level (RTL) design with a focus on modular, reusable, and synthesizable components
- Experienced in building parameterizable IP blocks to enable scalable and reusable designs
- Familiar with standard on-chip communication protocols (AXI, APB, SPI, I2C)
Verification & Validation
- Experienced in functional and structural verification using ModelSim, QuestaSim, and Vivado Simulator
- Proficient in writing testbenches, SystemVerilog assertions, and constrained-random tests
- Knowledge of UVM (Universal Verification Methodology) and coverage-driven verification
- Skilled in analyzing waveforms, simulation outputs, and debugging complex digital behaviors
Synthesis, Implementation & File Generation
- Proficient in synthesis and implementation using:
- Synopsys Design Compiler
- Cadence Genus
- Xilinx Vivado
- Intel Quartus Prime
- Experienced in generating and managing key implementation deliverables:
.lib
files for timing and cell characterization
.lef
files for physical abstraction of standard cells/IP
- Knowledge of UPF/CPF for low-power intent specification and implementation
Design for Test (DFT)
- Experience in implementing DFT techniques, including:
- Scan insertion, scan chain stitching, and test point insertion
- Built-in Self-Test (BIST) for logic and memory
- Integration of Automatic Test Pattern Generation (ATPG) and analyzing test coverage reports
- Understanding of DFT constraints and impact on design timing and area
Tools & Workflow Automation
- Experienced with industry-standard EDA tools: Synopsys, Cadence, Siemens/Mentor, Xilinx, Intel
- Proficient in version control systems such as Git for collaborative development
- Skilled in scripting and workflow automation using Python, TCL, Make, and Shell scripting
Additional Technical Skills
- Knowledge of digital-analog interfacing and mixed-signal system integration
- Capable of hardware bring-up and debugging using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and simulation tools
- Familiar with embedded system integration and co-verification of hardware/software interfaces
- Strong documentation and communication skills, with experience in cross-functional and multi-site team collaboration
What we offer in return:
- As well as the opportunity to really play a pivotal part in our success, we offer:
- A friendly, supportive and inclusive working environment
- Flexible work hours to fit around your personal commitments
- Hybrid and remote working
- Professional development and professional society membership
